Substitutions
- Sugar: and 1/2 cup Sugar equals 1 cup honey
- Buttermilk: 1 cup = 1 tablespoon lemon juice or vinegar plus enough regular milk to make 1 cup (allow to stand 5 minutes)
- Egg: 1 whole egg = 2-3 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 whole egg = bananas1/2 of a mashed ripe banana plus 1/4 teaspoon bakingpowder for each egg
- Sugar Powder: 1 cup = 1 cup granulated sugar plus 1 tablespoon cornstarch; process in a food processor using the metal blade attachment until it's well blended and powdery.
- Baking Powder: 1 teaspoon baking powder = 1/4 teaspoon baking soda plus 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
- Oil: Straight across ½ cup oil for ½ cup apple sauce + a little oil (about 1 T.)
- Wine: 1 Cup white wine for 1 T white wine vinegar + a dash of white grape or apple juice. 1 Cup red wine for 1 T Red wine vinegar + a dash of grape juice or jelly.
